HYPOCHLORITE REACTOR
Hypochiorite solution is prepared continuously with the A. H. Lundberg, Inc., Hypochiorite
Reactor from chlorine and alkali. The Hypochlorite Reactor is delivered as a module ready
for operation upon installation. Connecting points are provided for dilute alkali,
chlorine
gas, barometric loop and product outlet.
The alkali used can be either caustic soda or milk of lime solution. The reaction column
is an outer corrosion resistant tube within which is placed a smaller draft tube.
Recirculation of the alkali-hypochlorite solution around the draft tube permits immediate
reaction of the chlorine gas in contrast to slower reaction rates between chlorine and
alkali alone.
Typical construction to the Chlorine-Hypochiorite Reactor is PVC armored with FRP on
the external surfaces.
A complete Lundberg hypochlorite system consists of a dilute alkali storage tank,
hypochlorite reactor, control instrumentation and a hypochlorite storage tank.
